About Us

The seed for Emily's Original was planted in my grandparents’ kitchen in the late 1980s.  I grew up canning the fresh vegetables my Granddaddy grew in his garden with my Grandmother.  We made all sorts of jellies, jams, pickles, salsas, and sauces.  Fast forward to the summer of 2020 when I found myself with a bumper crop of peppers and a whole lotta free time on my hands.  I took to making hot sauce and I was hooked!  I fell in love with the process, the creative outlet and with sharing my creations with my family and friends.

All of my hot sauces are handmade with love.  When I am making hot sauce, I can feel my grandmother’s presence and hear her absent mindedly singing old gospel hymns.  Every time I head to the kitchen to make a batch, I am not just fulfilling an order, I am carrying on a sacred family tradition that has been passed down for generations.

Alongside my Grandmother’s traditional canning techniques are my Mississippi heritage, South Texas upbringing, and a deep love of flavor so good it’s like a punch in the mouth!  Growing up on a mix of Cajun, Southern, and Mexican food, and then spending my 20s falling in love with Asian cuisine, those are the flavors I gravitate to and those are the types of foods I had in mind when creating my hot sauces.  More than anything, I strive to make sauces that are pure and simple, where the pepper shines and the flavor profile compliments your favorite dish.

I hope you enjoy my hot sauces and they become a part of your fondest food memories as well.

Happy saucing!

Emily
